Club History & Notes
The league started in 1997 with four jhs teams. Bob D'Amico coached at Greenfield and his son Anthony went to Shepard. So the next year Bob started the team at Shepard. With the help of other lacrosse people in the valley they put on a demo at the school and recruited 14 players. This included three Grone and two D'Amico boys. The next year 1999 the team played in the jhs championship and Geoff Larson (who began reffing the next year) assisted Bob. With the addition of seven more players this was the core of the first Red Mtn team in 2000.
Bob coached both the JHS and HS teams in 2000 with some help from Mario Rosario. Home field was the Shepard football field. Three Porter brothers and four Horne brothers were added to the program. In 2001 the team moved to Red Mtn Park. Mario coached the junior high boys, Bob had the high school boys and the first girls team was started with about 12 girls. They were coached by a sister of the Hornes' mentioned above.
In 2002 Mario coached the high school girls team, Alan Johnson coached the junior high and Bob had the high school boys. In 2003 Eric Middleton along with Eric Alvis to help out with the high school, and Dave Kitchen did the junior high. There were two guys that played every year from '98 until they graduated. Anthony D'Amico and Jordon Cameron Both held all state honors. Two went on to play college ball, Brent Grone at University of Arizona and Murali Gudipati at University of California Santa Barbera.
Currently the boys high school is coached by Eric Middleton and the girls high school is coached by Andrew Kay. The junior high team is being coached in tandem by both coach Kay and coach Middleton. The club's executive board is made up of Jim Rudow, Dianna Ross, Alan Johnson, David & Pam Kitchen, Kim Larsh, Dennis Pezzaro as well as coach Kay and coach Middleton.
